My MBFF boys headed off for some fun at Paradis des Praz at the weekend and it reminded me what a wonderful little hidden jewel it is. This natural playground is well-known to families living in the region, but perhaps not to those visiting.
Activities at Le Paradis des Praz
Nestled in the woods in Les Praz, a short walk from the golf-course car park (or from Les Tines, in the opposite direction), a little stream runs through a spot that has been transformed into a small paradise for children; shallow water to paddle around in and splash about in. In addition, you will find on-site:
- a playground;
- a sandpit;
- pony rides in the summer;
- Le Paradis des Praz can also organises birthday parties!
Le Paradis des Praz can get quite busy during the summer months, but you can still find shade.
by car – if coming by car, the most obvious way to reach Le Paradis des Praz is to park in Les Praz (route du Golf, next to the golf club). From the car park, you can walk with buggies past the golf course and then through the woods. From experience, we highly recommend the use of push bikes/bikes for this short walk, for little ones who have a tendency to grumble when walking (but not when cycling!);
by bike – if you have a baby seat on your bike and are living/staying nearby (or if the children are old enough to cycle themselves), then a bike ride through the woods of Les Praz is lovely;
by train – you can take the train and get off either at Les Praz-de-Chamonix or Les Tines; after this, it is a short walk;
Le Paradis des Praz runs a buvette/café where you can sit for lunch or have a snack, while the little ones play. Alternatively, you are allowed to use the tables close to the playground area for your own picnics, as long as you buy drinks from the buvette, which is a very fair deal.
