The beautiful quais of Sallanches

I was walking along the quais in Sallanches last week and the chataignes (chestnut trees) were all in bloom and had formed a tapestry above my head . . . and I thought how I must write a post about how NOW is the time to experience Sallanches’s riverside at its most lush!

A trip to Sallanches’s Saturday morning market (which is lovely; a post to come) is one way to experience the joys of the riverside; but then you do also have to share it with all the market stalls and market-goers too . . .

A quieter visit would be on a weekday or Sunday . . . a sandwich or crêpe down by the river (there is a little crêpe stall right by the river open this time of year), sat on a bench or simply on the grass . . . or a coffee or an apéro at one of the riverside cafés, lunch in one of the restaurants.  Depending on where you sit, you’ll have a lovely view of Mont Blanc or the Warens!

The quais are also perfect for buggy walks in the shade, or for letting little push bikers work their legs before a rest for Mummy/Daddy/Grandparents/Carers in one of the playgrounds either end!

* down by the river is not the place for SMALL CHILDREN!*
