MBFF has had some lovely family walks up at the ❄️ Site Nordique La Livraz in Megève. Not only is this one of 🎿 Megève’s cross-country skiing areas (there are a handful!), it is also a superb spot for ❄️ a family walk in wintertime, especially with young children or older relatives! You can pull little ones along in a 🛷 a luge and the terrain is mostly gentle for strolling (though walking on snow is more tiring!). Even if you have not visited this super spot, if your kids are scolarisés in the Sallanches area, they are likely to have been for 🎿 ski de fond lessons with school.

Other attractive features of ❄️ La Livraz are:

• 🛷 small children’s sledging slope – with protective barriers, for children up to 6 year olds . . . where parents can keep an eye on little ones from the terrace;
• ☀️ plenty of sunshine (when the sun is out to play!);
• ☕️ snack bar & 🌈 children’s indoor play area;
• 🍏 salle hors sacs – the upstairs area is reserved for picnics;

Chalet La Livraz

You buy your forfaits for the site nordique at the ❄️ Chalet La Livraz . . . but this little chalet, is more than just 🎫 a caisse! It also offers ☕️ a café & snack bar, with 🌈 a children’s play area, 🍏 a salle hors sacs upstairs (currently shut due to situation sanitaire), 🚾 toilets and showers, and a salle de fartage (a place to sharpen and wax your skis);

My son was once invited to a February birthday party here . . . on the agenda? Sledging, fun in the snow and a goûter outdoors on the ☀️ sunny south-facing terrace!

Ski de Fond (cross-country skiing)

Located behind the 🗻 Mont d’Arbois, and just before Côte 2000 and the Aiguilles Croches, ❄️ La Livraz is a beautiful site! You’ll be rewarded with 🎿 ski de fond pistes for all levels, green to black, as well as 🏹 initiation biathlon . . . 38km of pistes for skating or classic style, with some beginners pistes and also more technical ones like 🎿 La Livraz-Côte 2000 (18 km) – this is the new 🎿 piste de liaison between the ❄️ Chalet La Livraz and the 🎿 piste noire de la Côte 2000!

🎿 beginners and families: La Livraz really has been conceived with families in mind:

• it is FREE for children under 6 years!
• there is an easy 🎿 boucle d’initiation and the Nordic Ludic Park, with bumps, jumps and turns (for children 4+ years);
• Saturday afternoons, equipment is put out for children and there are lessons available from 14h (5€);

🎿 two free pistes: Mont d’Arbois ⇔ Encraty (10km) and Odier ⇔ Plaine d’Arly (5km);

🎿 advanced: there are three red pistes and three black pistes for more experienced cross-country skiers, with dénivelés, technical turns, steeper descents and ascents, including the the 🎿 Javen circuit, with great views of the Lac de Javen, le Mont d’Arbois and Mont-Blanc! The 🎿 Planay-Planellet circuit is very peaceful and takes you into 🌲 the forest where you can sometimes spot a chamois or other wildlife.

Right next to the ❄️ Chalet La Livraz is a 🛷 small children’s sledging slope, with protective barriers . . . it is ideal as parents can keep an eye on little ones from the terrace! It is a small slope and reserved for children under 6 years!

Pistes Piétons (walking trails)

We have had some memorable walks en famille up at the ❄️ Site Nordique La Livraz, and ☀️☃️ in all types of weather! We have pulled a 🛷 luge (with a reindeer passenger!), we have walked, the boys have tried out raquettes for the first time . . . It really is a great family day out . . . and if the weather turns, you have ☕️ a cosy, friendly indoor space to take refuge!
