🏔 Praz-sur-Arly is another of our local ski resorts 🏔 au Pays du Mont-Blanc that ticks all of the boxes for family skiing: a mixture of gentle and more difficult pistes (60% of the pistes are GREEN and BLUE!), the Opoualand & Waouland pistes reserved for children (adults are only permitted here if they accompany a child!), an outdoor softplay games area called the 🐉Dragon Tirecorde, 🛷 a sledging area at the bottom of the pistes, ☕️ lovely restaurants on the pistes, picnic tables, a food-truck . . .
Nestled between 🏔 the Aravis and the Beaufortain mountain ranges, and facing Mont-Blanc, skiing at Praz-sur-Arly also offers wonderful views, skiing among forests, mountain pastures and traditional chalets and hamlets.
⛷ Ski Pass Options ⛷
There are two different ski passes available from this ski area:
⛷ L’Espace Val d’Arly – allows access to the 120km of ski pistes of Praz-sur-Arly, Flumet, Crest-Voland / Cohennoz and Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe. With 21 green and 38 blue pistes (and 34 red and 3 black) and 3 children’s areas, this is an attractive pass for families. ⛷ L’Espace Diamant – with this pass, families have access to 192km of pistes, and can also ski in Les Saisies and Hauteluce (as well as the other locations included on the Espace Val d’Arly pass). Across this skiing area are 30 green, 67 blue, 50 red and 10 black runs, 4 areas dedicated to children, 9 boardercross areas and 3 snowparks! / from 1000m to 2070m altitude / more information here / for an interactive 🗺 plan des pistes, see here.
Beginner & Family Skiing
Praz-sur-Arly is one of the LabelleMontagne ski resorts, and is registered FamillePlus, which means it is committed to welcoming families: adequate equipment, activities for all age-groups, and more. And, as well as offering plenty of green and blue pistes for Beginner skiiers and children, there are some pistes arranged especially for families or children in mind:
⛷ Opoualand piste – Opoual is the friendly yeti mascot of the LabelleMontagne ski resorts, and this piste is reserved just for children (adults using this piste must be accompanying a child!). The Opouland piste is pedagogic and you will find: a slalom, tunnels, games . . . and have the opportunity to imitate the cry of the yeti and learn all about the mountains . . . / see here for more details;
⛷ Waouland piste – this piste is set out with natural obstacles like raised turns and jumps! / see here for more information;
⛷ Piou-Piou zone – is at the bottom of the pistes, on the “front de neige“;
🐉 Softplay area Le Dragon de Tirecorde & 🛷 Sledging area – the softplay zone Le Dragon de Tirecorde is a softplay area reserved for small children (no ski boots!) and it is set next to the sledging area at the bottom of the pistes, . . . a great place to have a pause at the end of a ski day, or for tiny ones to play while the older members of the family ski! You can rent out or buy sledges from the nearby shops.
⛷ Intermediate & Advanced Skiing ⛷
There is plenty of scope for the more advanced skier, with the red and black pistes on offer at this resort and across the larger ski areas.
🎿 Cross Country Skiing 🎿
There are two different cross-country skiing boucles accessible from the bottom of the ski pistes in Praz-sur-Arly:
- the Boucle de Cassioz (5km and perfect for Beginners);
- the Boucle de Mègeve (10km, along the Arve river towards Megève);
Both classic or skating cross-country skiing can be used. The proximity of the cross-country skiing to the ⛷ alpine skiing makes Praz-sur-Arly a very attractive place to take a family or group of friends with different interests!
❄️ Snow Shoeing Trails (raquettes) ❄️
The Boucle de Cassioz (5km) also works as a snow shoeing trail; along the way, you can discover the life of hamlets in the Val d’Arly. This new route takes about 1h30 to walk. For more snow-shoeing options in Praz-sur-Arly, see Praz-sur-Arly Tourisme.

☕️ Eating Options ☕️
There are some lovely, traditional and authentic restaurants on the pistes at Praz-sur-Arly (see here) as well as 🍏picnic tables dotted about on the domaine skiable. At the bottom of the pistes, there is a food-truck (Le Plan B), La K-Bane restaurant, and Le Repaire de Praz, a picnic room (salle hors sacs), situated in the car park (toilets available).
Animations sur les pistes
There are plenty of ❄️ snow activities to test out at Praz-sur-Arly, as well as some yearly events :
30è Mongolfiades Internationales will take place on the weekend of 11th & 12th January 2020 – animations for the whole family and prizes to be won!

- 🛷 Crestvoluge at Crest-Volant (near Praz-sur-Arly) – there is 🛷 a sledging piste at 1600m of altitude in Crest-Voland: 2km long with a 400m dénivelé. The course starts at the summit of Mont Lachat (arrival station of télésiège la Logère) and your descent will take about 20mins.
