You have many options for 🏊‍♀️ swimming in the Chamonix Valley and in the Pays du Mont-Blanc!

Chamonix Valley

If you’d like to go 🏊‍♀️ swimming in the Chamonix Valley, then you have various options: 

  • 💦 you might be lucky enough to be staying at a hotel or chalet with a pool;
  • 💦 otherwise you can head to the public swimming pool at the Centre Sportif Richard Bozon;
  • 💦 alternatively, some hotels in the valley let you use their pool if you eat lunch at their restaurant or use their spa facilities (see below for some of these options);

Centre Sportif Richard Bozon

Chamonix’s 💦 public swimming pool is located within the Centre Sportif Richard Bozon, and it offers plenty of splashing fun for all ages throughout the year.

There are both 💦 indoor and outdoor pools with lanes, as well as a great selection of children’s pools with slides and other features, and a relaxation area with sauna, hammam and solarium. There are plenty of options to keep the whole family entertained, whatever the weather!

💦 indoor  there is a 25m indoor pool with lanes and a children’s pool with rapids, water jets and a really fun slide;

💦 outdoor the outdoor area is large and comprises the 50m Olympic pool (swimming in an outdoor pool with a view of Mont Blanc is a special experience!), a children’s pool, slides and a children’s paddling pool.  There is also a small lake (not for swimming) and a refreshment hut;

💦 babies and small children as well as the indoor children’s pool and the outdoor paddling pool and slides, the Centre Sportif Richard Bozon offers special classes for babies and toddlers. On a Saturday morning at 10h, the Jardin d’Eau offers plenty of fun for babies and toddlers (from 6 months to 3 years) with one or two adults accompanying.  At 11h is the Petits Poissons option for children from 3 to 5 years.  Lots of toys are put out and the pool is slightly warmed for these classes. 💶 price – adults: 6,50€ / adults with carte d’hôte: 5€ / children (6-17 years): 4,70€ / children with carte d’hôte: 3,50€ / entrance for swimming pool, sauna & hammam: 13,80€;

🗓 opening hours change with each season, so for up-to-date information, please check the official website;

🅿 parking: there is some free parking at the sports centre, depending on availability.  Otherwise there are paying car parks nearby;

Chamonix Valley hotel pools & spas (open to the public)

Several hotels in the Chamonix Valley allow non-hotel guests to access their 💦 pool and spa (from 19€ upwards), and this could be just what weary parents, grand-parents and child-minders need after days of family fun out in nature!

  • Hôtel Aiguille du Midi (Les Bossons) – this lovely hotel doesn’t advertise this, but you are discreetly allowed to use the outdoor swimming pool, if you have lunch at their lovely restaurant!

💦 Plan d’Eau Biotope – a stunning location for this bio lake (cleaned naturally by the plants 🌱) in Combloux (30 mins drive from Chamonix) / see here for more details;

💦 Lac de Baignade in the Parc de Loisirs du Pontet  lots of other family fun to be had in this park in the summer in Les Contamines-Montjoie (40 mins drive from Chamonix) / see here for more details;

💦 Lac de l’Etape  a small lake at altitude, also in Les Contamines-Montjoie / access via the 🚡 Télécabine de la Gorge (this is located near the Parc de Loisirs du Pontet / check opening hours) or by foot (quite a hike!) / good to know: if you book to stay overnight at the hotel here, then you ride the télécabine for FREE!

Further Afield swimming

If you would like to head a bit further away, to a larger lake for swimming and more watersports options . . .

  • 💦 TNA Cable Park (Arenthon) – with wibit inflatable structures and cable wakeboarding and waterskiing / see here for more details;
  • 💦 Lac d’Annecy (Annecy itself, Talloires, St Jorioz, Sévrier, Doussard . . . );

Parcs Aquatiques even further afield

Even further afield, there are some large 💦 swimming pool complexes:

🇫🇷 💦 Vitam in Neydens (near Saint-Julién-en-Génévois) – the indoor pools and slides at this huge parc aquatique are a great option for a rainy day! Vitam is ideally situated within a shopping centre and also has an indoor climbing wall, playcentre (Vitam Ludic) / also during the school holidays on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, from 9h to 9h45, there is a baby swimming class, Aquabébés, for children 6 months to 5 years / holiday schedule – with Wibit softplay and more, see FB page / about 1 hour drive from Chamonix / website;

🇫🇷 💦 Aquariaz in Avoriaz – the tropical indoor water park, with water at 30°! / opening hours: 14h to 20h (please check, variable according to season / price: 3€ to 11€ (3+/adults) / about 1h30 hour drive from Chamonix / website;

🇨🇭💦  Aquaparc in Le Bouveret, Switzerland – with its pirate boat, waves, lazy river and more, this is the perfect family water park! / opening hours / about 1h30 drive from Chamonix / website;

🇨🇭💧 Les Bains de Saillon (Valais, Switerland) – set among terraced vineyards, with a view of the little castle atop the medieval bourg, this spa/aquatic centre has both indoor and outdoor attractions . . . three thermal pools (32 to 34°C), a semi-Olympic pool (28°C), a thermal river (120m long) and more . . . / some of the outdoor attractions will only open during the summer months / six restaurants on-site! / price: adults CHF24 to 28, children (4 to 16 years) CHF13 and FREE for under 4s! / about 1h drive from Chamonix / website;

🇨🇭💧 Les Bains de Lavey (Vaud, Switerland) – for children 4+ years / about 1h drive from Chamonix / FB page / website;

🇨🇭💧 Leukerbad (Switzerland) – a beautiful setting, amidst the snowy mountain peaks, this spa is a real escape . . . 10 pools (between 28°C and 43°C!), and a new bassin aventure! / two dedicated pools for children / price: adults CHF 25 to 30, children (8 to 16 years) CHF 14 and free for under 8s and open to all children from birth! / massages for children & parents available / there are lots of different hotel complexes here, so you can have a proper family spa getaway! / about 1h45 drive from Chamonix / website;

🇮🇹💧 QC Termes Pré St Didier (Italy) – located a short drive from Courmayeur, the spa of Pré St Didier QC Termes is a favourite destinations for Chamonix locals and tourists to go and relax / good to know: reserved for adults and children 14+ years! / see here for more details;
